Annual Visits

Our pets age faster than we do, and a lot can happen in a year. During an annual examination, in addition to vaccines and testing, your veterinarian will examine your pet from head to toe. Your vet will identify problems before they worsen, such as orthopedic issues, dental disease, heart murmurs, and ear infections, to name only a few. To prepare for your dogs or cat’s annual visit, collect a fresh stool sample to bring to the appointment for testing, with a list of questions or concerns you have about your pet’s health or behavior.

The annual visit is the perfect time to discuss accidents in the house, allergies, nutrition, weight, and behavioral problems. Remember, there are no “silly” questions when it comes to the health and well-being of your family member. For their safety, we ask that all cats be brought in a carrier and all dogs either be leashed, carried or in a carrier.

Our veterinarians strongly recommend yearly lab work, including a complete blood count, a chemistry panel, a urinalysis, and heartworm and intestinal parasite testing, providing you with a more thorough snapshot of your pet’s overall health. Even when your dog or cat is young, lab work at their annual exam will help identify any potential problems in the early stages. This lab work also gives your pet’s veterinarian a baseline to compare to if your pet has any health concerns in the future.
